Big Sur Marathon

This weekend the Big Sur International Marathon graces the Monterey Peninsula!  The race begins Sunday, April 28th at 6:45 AM and spans from Big Sur to Carmel on scenic Highway 1.  The official slogan of the marathon is “Running on the Ragged Edge of the Western World” and we hope you have an opportunity to participate, cheer on a runner, or enjoy the spectacular landscape we are fortunate to live in.  Please note traffic delays and road closures throughout the day on Sunday and visit www.bigsurmarathon.org for more information.  Our local real estate market kept the pace this week – below please find a recap.  Have a great weekend! 

Our lone closing in Pebble Beach this week was an updated Spanish style home near MPCC which was listed for only 2 days (sale price: $2.345M, 2% discount off list price).  The top new sale in Pebble this week was a “Spanish Palace by the Sea” – Villa Eden Del Mar, which features 180-degree oceanfront vistas of rugged coastline (list price: $37M, DOM = 381).  Other new sales in the region this week were a 1920’s Mediterranean in Country Club West (list price: $2.35M, DOM = 45) and a 70’s-built remodel opportunity in the Upper Forest (list price: $995K, DOM = 80).


There were 6 closings in Carmel this week, all occurring in the bottom price bracket for the region.  These closed escrows included: a cozy remodeled home on a double lot in the heart of the rectangle (sale price: $2.175M, 13% discount off list price, DOM = 52), an updated Mid-Century home in Carmel Point (sale price: $1.764M, 2% discount off most recent list price or 32% discount off original list price, DOM = 225), a partially renovated home on a large lush oversized corner lot with was on the market for 1 month (sale price: $1.798M, 3% discount off list price), a charming cottage near town in NE Carmel (12% discount off most recent list price or 20% discount off original list price, DOM = 123), a dated cottage tucked away in a quiet location in NE Carmel on the market for just 10 days (sale price: $952K, 3% discount off list price), and an “as-is” total fixer in NE Carmel (sale price: $875K, 2% discount off most recent list price or 8% discount off original list price, DOM = 40).  The 4 new sales in Carmel this week consisted of: a 1940’s-built farmhouse on an oversized lot in NE Carmel (list price: $2.099M, DOM = 77), a beautifully remodeled cottage near Mission Trail Park in SE Carmel which went under contract before it hit the market (list price: $1.895M), a vintage remodel opportunity on Highway 1 (list price: $1.395M, DOM = 32), and a cute updated circa 1930’s cottage in NW Carmel (list price: $1.295M) on the market for 1 week.


There was no activity to note in Carmel Highlands, Quail, or the Preserve this week.
