Mike has been a perennial leader in real estate in Carmel and Pebble Beach for 30 years, having been recognized in the top 10 in the United States as well as previously being Sothebys International Realty’s top agent 11 consecutive years. Prior to embarking on a residential brokerage career, Mike practiced law as a real estate attorney. Married to his high school sweetheart and long suffering wife Nancy, they have two children, Jessica and Nic. His greatest avocation is fly fishing, followed not far behind by golf. Professional Background: Practiced law with an emphasis on real estate from 1980-1988. From 1988 to present working full time in brokerage of residential estates in Pebble Beach and Carmel, emphasizing ocean and golf properties. Top producer for Fox and Carskadon 1989-1994; 1994-1999 top 1% of the 54,000 Coldwell Banker sales associates nationwide, finishing in the top 10 agents nationally 1997-1999; Number one agent in Pebble Beach 1997-2001.

Jessica joined the team in 2012 after spending nearly 10 years as Global Research Director of Venture Capital and Private Equity for Dow Jones; this business experience brings a level of professionalism and cultural understanding that has proved critical in providing market insight to clients. Since joining the team, Jessica has been involved in over $400M in real estate sales in Pebble Beach, Carmel, Carmel Valley and the Carmel Highlands, and has applied her innovative technology strengths to bring our business to a new level for our buyers and sellers. In 2015 the team was nominated as a top technological innovator by Inman News. Having grown up in Pebble Beach she has an intimate connection with all of the experiences this area has to offer. While attending Stevenson school, she was part of the 1998 CCS Championship basketball team and was the captain of the Volleyball team. Even more important, her education at Stevenson developed a deep passion for photography and literature that continues today. Jessica graduated from Santa Clara University in 2002 with a degree in Economics.

Growing up in a real estate family on the Monterey Peninsula, Nic has developed a lifelong passion for the unique properties and architecture that this area has to offer. With second generation experience and deep local knowledge, Nic brings a unique set of talents to the table. With nearly 20 years of experience in service and hospitality, Nic has refined his communication, relationship and business skills to provide the highest level of service to every client. He has a proactive, problem-solving mindset and the discipline to handle any challenge that real estate may present. Nic graduated from C.S.U.M.B. with a degree in Business Administration and a Concentration in Entrepreneurship. While attending college, Nic trained in Martial Arts and won the Pan-American Championship in Renshinkan Karate-Do. In addition to his Martial Arts, Nic was very active in the community and was awarded the Kukui Award from the School of Business for his academic achievements and contributions to the community. When Nic is not chasing his son and daughter around with his wife, you can find him on the golf course pursuing that perfect round.

After earning her Photojournalism degree from Cal State Northridge, Ellen now calls Monterey home where she pursues her passion for photography and design. Since joining the Canning Team in 2015, she designs print and web advertising for all properties. With her creative eye and social media experience, Ellen looks forward to expanding the Canning Properties Group in both print and web media design. As a former Division I golfer, Ellen has a passion for the game and enjoys playing on the many courses on the Peninsula.

Native to the Monterey Peninsula, Natalie enjoys the natural beauty of the outdoors on the Central Coast. In 2009 she completed her Bachelor’s degree from California State University Monterey Bay with high honors. She majored in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Gerontology and focused her studies on advocacy for the elderly. This background, combined with a case study involving visits to homebound seniors, sparked her interest in housing. The same year she began her real estate career in Carmel by-the-Sea and worked alongside a local top producer as his Executive Assistant. In 2011 she moved to the Pacific Northwest and pursued a position as the Sales and Marketing Coordinator for a builder in the Portland Oregon and Seattle Washington metropolitan areas. Natalie returned to Carmel in 2013 and assumed the role of Senior Transaction Coordinator for the Sotheby’s International Realty Monterey Peninsula offices. Joining Canning Properties Group in 2017, Natalie set out to expand on her transactional background and dive further into the due diligence and sales processes and has been a part of over $200M in sales since joining the firm. As a third-generation Realtor, Natalie loves working in the community she and her family call home. To balance work and play she enjoys hiking in the stunning environment she feels fortunate to live in.

Brian moved to the Monterey Peninsula from Sacramento in 2003 to attend Cal State Monterey Bay. He earned his BS in Business Administration and played Division II Golf for the University and fell in love with the area and has continued to build deeper roots. His passion for golf, finance and philanthropy landed him with The First Tee of Monterey County where he was the Development and Finance Assistant and helped underserved youth have a chance for a better future through golf and life skills education. He went on in 2011 to become the 1st Assistant Golf Professional at The Preserve Golf Club where his passion for player development and growing the game was strong. He grew into the Head Golf Professional role, and ultimately the Membership Sales Manager where he enjoyed introducing new members to the Golf and Ranch Clubs. His 9 years of experience at the Santa Lucia Preserve and organic demand for him to serve members at a higher level led to his recent transition to real estate sales in The Preserve Community. His passion for the outdoors, golf and conservation led to him to move to The Preserve where he can best serve the Community. When he’s not working, you can find him snow boarding, trail running, playing tennis, cycling, and most of all- golfing around the world.

Having just moved from San Francisco, Katie enjoys the vast beauty and community of the Monterey Peninsula. Katie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and Design from the University of San Francisco. With a broad background of skills ranging from window displays at retail stores to marketing at tech companies, Katie has acquired the skills to perfectly fit into the real estate world. Katie has joined the Canning Properties team as an Office Manager to support all the amazing talent the team brings to the industry. In her free time, Katie loves taking her rescue dog, Pepe, on hikes or to the beach, as well as shopping in Carmel. To exercise her creative side, Katie loves dabbling in any DIY crafts and is currently interested in making macramé plant hangers for her extensive collection of house plants.

Office Manager

Having worked alongside Mike for over 25 years, Nancy’s role on the team is overseeing and approving the print marketing materials from start to finish. Her creative eye lends itself well to working with photographers and other marketing vendors designing print advertising and property brochures for Mike’s listings. Nancy enjoys her “behind the scenes” projects and appreciates the spectacular on and off-market properties the team has listed over the years; as she says, “with properties like these, my job is made so much easier!” Married to Mike for over 45 years, she admits that fly fishing is now a passion, second to testing new culinary creations, followed by a golf game that “needs work.”
